Jay Leno suffered burns to more than half his body on Friday

After suffering ‘serious burns’ in his garage, Jay Leno hopes to recover in a few weeks.

The ‘Tonight Show’ host suffered severe burns on more than half his body overnight.

Jay Leno suffered major burns to his hands, face and torso Friday. He was later diagnosed with toxic inhalation after being tested at a Los Angeles hospital.

Leno’s wife Gail, his son Jordan, and his son’s 13-year-old friend were also treated for burns.

Leno’s wife Gail, his son Jordan, and his son’s 13-year-old friend were also treated for burns. While Jay’s burns were worse, the worst occurred to his 13-year-old son, who had to be rushed to the hospital with full-body burns

Jay was taken to the burns unit at Cedars Sinai hospital in Pasadena on Friday. His son was later taken to the same hospital after surgery to remove the third of his arms in order to allow fluids to be drained and treated.

While Jay’s burns were more severe, the worst occurred to his 13-year-old son, who had to be rushed to the hospital with full-body burns.

He also has skin grafts and will need a face transplant.

His wife Gail and his son Jordan were also treated for burns. His son’s 13-year-old friend was rushed to the hospital with burns as well.

Leno told his audience during a live broadcast on the show that he didn’t have the will to fight the illness.

He told viewers: ‘I have an illness, I have a disease. They called it toxic inhalation and that’s what we call it in the burn unit.

‘We’re talking about what is called toxic inhalation.
