When a fan came to blows with a tennis player, she got him into trouble with the umpire. Now the other fan is facing a court case of his own, alleging a former lover was drunk out of her mind.

This is the first chapter in a series of the Daily Beast’s ‘Sex is Sexy’ series, which looks at the sexualization of tennis, with interviews with players, tennis coaches and fans who believe a sexual component is integral to the sport.

The women, all fans of men’s tennis, are suing each other for what they claim was a series of incidents that occurred between them in 2017 and 2018, during the world’s most prestigious tennis tournament.

The legal case has been in the making for the past year, with the lawsuit going through the courts for the past six months, with both parties claiming they were the victims of “slander,” and a sexual encounter was not the reason they were in a physical altercation.

But the two women, both fans of Kyrgios, are now battling it out in court, after the former fan accused Jan-Michele Woollaston, 28, of having sex with her “for six weeks, three times a day, and a couple of times a night”, and then claiming she was “drunk out of her mind” when she had sex with her.

The Daily Beast was shown what the fan and the former lover said about the incident and about each other in the court’s legal documents.

In late August 2017, Kyrgios and two friends, Markéta Vondroušová and her best friend, Martiëtte Buurman, went to play in the Wimbledon men’s singles draw, having just moved to England the year before.

Kyrgios and his friends, who had never met before, were there to watch a friend play a match. One of the friends asked the group, “What time do you need to leave?”

“You could come back with no shoes,” he said. “But you’d need to take them to change.”

“What?” said Kyrgios, who went with the group to buy tickets.
