This, Musk argued, was proof that the politician was responsible for violence that had recently left four people dead.
Musk’s tweet caused some to suspect that his tweets were fake. Soon after Musk made his assertions, however, several prominent figures began questioning the veracity of the tweet. It was then that Paul Pelosi, who is Speaker of the House of Representatives, was attacked by Elon Musk in a tweet that the Tesla founder claimed depicted him with a mustache. (It was a close election, so no one found it particularly funny or humorous.)
Soon after the tweet went live, several prominent figures began questioning the veracity of Musk’s tweet. A few hours later on Thursday evening, Elon Musk posted a second and final tweet that he intended to delete. He wrote:
